Over $6,000,000 in scholarship and grant-in-aid
funds are offered to UNLV students each year.
This application is provided to you at no
cost. Should you have any questions concerning the scholarship
and grant-in-aid application please contact UNLV Financial Aid & Scholarships for assistance at (702) 895-3424.
In addition to completing the scholarship
and grant-in-aid application, students need to be aware that
scholarships are awarded on the basis of several factors: grade
point average (high national test scores for freshmen), academic
excellence or special service to the University, financial need,
and other biographical criteria. Financial need is an important
factor for many scholarships and grants and may be considered
when applicants are otherwise equal, or when the amount of an
award is determined. Often financial need is overlooked
by many students because they feel they may not qualify. Nonetheless,
in your search for scholarship monies you must be sure to cover
all bases in order to maximize their search efforts. To determine
financial need students are asked to complete the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application should be
completed concurrently with the scholarship and grant-in-aid
application.
Students should also be aware that some scholarships
are reviewed on the basis of specific criteria, such as your
major or area of discipline, and require the completion of additional
applications or forms for colleges and departments. Departments
should be contacted directly for more information. Please remember
applying for admissions to UNLV is a prerequisite for being considered
for a scholarship. Admissions
information can be located through this link.
