Applying Financial Aid towards UNLV Tuition
and Fees
UNLV offers over $70 million each year to
students who apply for scholarships, grants, student loans,
part-time work, or veteran’s benefits. Funds come from
federal, state, and private sources. Financial assistance can
be used to help cover the costs of registration, fees, tuition,
books, and room and board either on campus, off campus, and
study abroad.
Student loan and scholarship checks from external
agencies will be available for students to sign in the Cashier’s
Office one week before the semester begins. The funds will then
be applied to the your tuition and fee account. The Cashier’s
Office is located in the Donald W. Reynolds Student Services
Center on the first floor. Federal and State grants, loans,
grant-in aid, and scholarships awarded by UNLV will be applied
to your fee account one-week before the semester begins if funds
are ready for payment and you remain eligible. Be aware that
if the financial assistance does not pay your fee account in
full, or if your eligibility status has not been determined
then you must pay the difference by the balance by the last
Friday before the semester begins without being penalized late
fees.
Students must notify UNLV Financial Aid & Scholarships about residency, enrollment, and/or any other status
changes that may impact your financial aid eligibility and/or
payment of funds.
Entrance Interviews - All
students who are first-time loan borrowers at UNLV must complete
a federal entrance loan counseling before their loan proceeds
will be released for payment. For more information refer to
UNLV
Student Financial Aid. If you are a first-time freshman
student loan borrower your Federal Direct Subsidized Student
Loans will be delayed 30 days before payment to your fee account.
This is a federal requirement. If you have any questions about
this requirement please contact UNLV Financial Aid & Scholarships
at (702) 895-3424.
