Studying at the University of Nevada, Las
Vegas can be inspiring, exciting, and costly. Limited assistance
is available to international students who hold a F-1 (student
visa) or a J-1 (student exchange visa). Federal financial aid
such as federal Pell grants, federal work-study, federal direct
loans, and state grants are not available to international students.
Limited assistance consists of scholarships,
alternative loans from private lenders, on-campus employment,
and from student's home country.

Scholarships
for International Students
Scholarships are awarded to students
on the basis of academic excellence, above average grades, financial
need, and special services to the university.
In addition to completing the UNLV Scholarship
Application, international students may apply for scholarships
through private donors and agencies by filling out applications
or applying on-line. Below is a list of web site addresses for

Loans for International Students
There are some private lenders that allow international
student to borrow for school. International student loan applications
must be co-endorsed by a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident.
If the student is unable to repay the loan, the co-signer is responsible
for repaying the loan. Students are advised to contact the various
lenders for additional information. Lenders that may offer this

Part-time Employment for International
Students
UNLV offers employment for international
students. Prior to employment, international students must verify
eligibility and obtain a work permit from UNLV office of International Students
and Scholars. Students may work up to 20 hours per week during the
semester of enrollment and 40 hours per week during vacation periods.
